I origionaly intended to make the box for the day i proposed to my girlfriend, so i made the box combination her name.
I think to have a re conbinable lock it would mean making the locking rings double rings so the locking rings move and the outer rings move when not locked into place on the locking rings.
It is doable but getting to the point where i would personally be using some plastics and some metal due to parts becoming watch mechanics small
think of it as a bike lock. the lock rings have a grove for the locking pins to tracel and a noch for the locking pin to unlock,
the locking pins are the combe looking thing to the right of the picture. they corespond to the spaces in the rings.
the rings fint on and are secured by a fixed ring at the end of the extior tube. the ezterior tube is finnished at one end to the same dimentions as the locking rings.
the interior tube fits inside of the exterior tube and has the locking pins inside it. and is finnished off on one end to the dimentions of the locking rings.
if i was to do it again i would use brass or steal locking rings. i would pirograph the letters or symbols. i would probably use a light and a dark wood light for the rings dark for the rest. i would create some holding rings to go between the spinning rings. and i would probably make it little more spehsal, i had planed this one to look a little more like a chess peace, but went for a capsuel as i wasnt sure it was going to work
